3D Game Character: Wriathlord

Wraithlord Hero Shot

This character hails from the warhammer 40,000 universe, it’s a large construct powered by the spirit of a dead alien warrior from a race of beings known as the Eldar. I chose this character because of it’s unique hard surface structure with sweeping curves, (and because I’m a fan of the Eldar and their interesting back story!)

This was done as a portfolio piece, and is the first character I’ve done using the new PBR (physically based rendering) technique. It was a bit hard to wrap my head around PBR at first but I like the results!, and intend to improve my PBR skills with future projects.

Wraithlord Texture Maps

I set myself a limit of 15,000 tri, and to maintain the iconic look of the Wraithlord from table top miniature to 3D game character, but added my own flair with a custom skin based on the Biel-Tan sub-faction colors and rune.

Wraithlord Wire Frame

Final renders were done with Marmoset Toolbag.

Wraithlord Turnaround

For a bit of fun, I made an illustration using the game asset to show the character in action.

  1. Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the pictures on this blog loading?
I’m trying to find out if its a problem on my end or if it’s
the blog. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

    • When you say you have problems loading images, are the images not loading at all?

On my end everything looks good in Fire Fox. What browser are you using? Have you checked it’s the latest version?
